Many of these silicone vaginal plugs immediately push me to the edge of orgasm.

Sometimes it’s love at first thrust, like with Uberrime. Sometimes, it’s a slow build, like with the inflatable Fabled Toys Amplia.
It’s no mystery that I love a stationary pussy plug to clench around. And that’s sometimes enough to make me cum — eyes especially glazed when I try the bigger sizes.

But size alone isn’t what matters. Shape, softness, and the overall experience do, too.
Let’s compare a big solid silicone plug to an inflatable silicone plug that can also get really fucking big.
I get so lightheaded with these plugs, like I could cream my pants at any moment. Sometimes, I do, with something as minimal as pulling my shorts seam and bumping up against the base of the plug and my clit.
And while they can both feel full, they feel very different during initial insertion, and once they’re inside.

A subtle start? An overwhelming peak?
Fabled Toys’ Amplia starts pretty moderate, about an inch-and-a-half across the bulb, with some squish to it at first.

It’s tapered and stylized, with bumps, ridges, and a stylized head, and it’s fun for tip drilling to savor the textures at first. A flexible tube attaches to (and detaches from) the base of the plug, connected to a one-way hand pump for airflow in and a screw to release the inflation.
You can start with a slimmer insertion at the tightest part of the vaginal entrance. (Or the anus, but we’ll focus on pussy plugs here.) As you pump it up, it’s more like a smooth oval, exerting force somewhat evenly in different directions, like (duh) a balloon. It gets firm when you push it to its extremes, barely yielding.

Uberrime’s Opimus pussy plug, in contrast, is a little tapered, but of course the bigger sizes are more blunt. It squishes on the way in, expands against relaxed walls once it’s past the pubic bone, and compresses when you squeeze it.
It’s also softer overall, conforming somewhat to your walls, then bouncing back. I can feel the pronounced corpora (vertical columns of “flesh”) when I twist this plug, and its swell presses into my front wall, G-spot, and internal clitoris.

Hot spots and ways to play
Opimus features a small round base to leave room for a clitoral toy (or a partner’s mouth. Get creative with it).

Amplia has a T-bar-style base, designed to fit between the cheeks. It can be used anally — but it’s flexible and can be adjusted between the lips for clitoral stimulation, too.
Keep in mind: soft silicone yields much more against the cervix than silicone pumped way up with air. Pay attention to the maximum insertable length, so you don’t run out of room! More on measurements in a bit.
As always, your mileage may vary. Even though I cum easily on big insertables, that might not work for you. I do, however, think that it’s worth experimenting with penetration to see if constant internal pressure makes it easier to cum than external sensations alone.

With anal play, I’d recommend exercising caution and not inflating too much, but not for the most (no pun intended) pressing reason you might think.

After a certain point, the concern is the width of the bulb exceeding the width of the base and possibly being dilated enough that one’s rectum “sucks” in the whole toy. It’s not super likely with this base shape, but it’s still worth keeping in mind because of the flexibility.
Scared of popping an inflatable plug?
Also, with big toys in general, people tend to focus on the visual spectacle and the sense of pushing limits. A big inflatable silicone plug poses the question: how far can we push the toy? How far can we push the user, little by little? And does it ever pop?

Sure, there’s some casual concern about an inflatable plug popping. But once you use it? You recognize by feel when it’s near capacity. After a certain size, the plug resists further expansion.
Each incremental pump gets more difficult for the user’s hand to keep squeezing. That’s when you’d stop, instead of forcibly stomping on the pump.

And besides… if you want to push the limits that bad, you could get Thane, the next size up from Amplia.
Amplia and Thane inflatable plug measurements vs. Uberrime Opimus

Amplia
- 1.55″ bulb maximum width at rest
- 0.85″ diameter neck
- Pump it up to 2.5″ diameter
- 4.2″ insertable length at rest
- Expands up to 5.8″ insertable
- Shore 0050 silicone (but will feel very firm when inflated to the max)

Thane XXL
- 2.33″ maximum diameter at rest
- 1.4″ diameter neck (!!!)
- Pump it up to 3.9″ diameter
- Up to 6.15″ insertable
- Ditto with the Shore 0050 silicone

Uberrime Opimus
- Small: 4.5″ insertable x 1.67″ diameter
- Medium: 4.5″ insertable x 1.9″ diameter
- Large: 4.75″ insertable x 2.4″ diameter
- XL: 4.75″ insertable x 2.7″ diameter
- Your choice of Shore 0050 or even softer 0030
I personally got 0050 for the small and medium, but 0030 for the large and XL.

Did it hurt to get the largest Opimus size in?
It indeed took some effort with the blunt insertion gauging to 2.7″ diameter. I twisted it to spread the lube, then held it in place with my heel against the base.

From there, I alternated between relaxing and deep breathing, nudging it in millimeters at a time.
(Further reading: vaginal stretching, fisting starter pack, and XL dilators.)
Once I got past a little bit of discomfort, it just popped right in, and I immediately curled up into a ball and rolled over, because oh my God, I just felt like I was immediately on the verge of coming, just like on the edge continuously.

What did it feel like?
When I squeezed on Opimus, it felt like flesh yielding to me, like a partner throbbing, whereas Amplia felt like something pushed me apart. Consuming vs. taking it.
I paired it with the Womanizer Next Liberty’s gentle throbbing (there’s that word), which felt like every little twitch of my walls and clit was another thing that both came from within — a toy facilitated it, but it felt carnal. And it could (and often did) push me over the edge.

Closing Thoughts
That’s part of the perk of using a plug specifically made for vaginal use instead of adapting an anal plug — vaginal plugs tend to have smaller bases, to leave room for a clitoral toy, too.
Try a stationary pussy plug and see how that elevates your orgasms. It might be a nice tease in smaller sizes. It might please and overwhelm you and consume you psychologically while you consume it physically.
