Exploring the A-Spot (Anterior Fornix Erogenous Zone)
The A‑spot — or AFE zone — is one of the most underrated erogenous zones in existence.
It’s an area on the front vaginal wall, all the way in and farther inside than the (ostensibly also mysterious) G‑spot. Due to the A‑spot’s depth, it may be even more difficult to locate than the G‑spot, but learning more about it adds fantastic variety to one’s pleasure.
Some people with vaginas find A‑spot or cervical orgasms even more magically full-bodied than G‑spot orgasms, but as always, find what works for you. Not everyone will enjoy pressure against their A‑spot.
Note: there is no monolithic “best” erogenous zone.
Sensations can get more delicious when using combinations of toys that stimulate the A‑spot and G‑spot at the same time, the A‑spot and clitoris at the same time, or any other pairing.
In any case, this guide is here to help expand the orgasmic experiences someone can have! Read on to find your A‑spot and learn what to look for in an A‑spot toy.
What’s in a name?
The “AFE” in “AFE zone” stands for “anterior fornix erogenous”— and it’s all a fancy (but accurate) way of saying “the sensually sensitive area in front of the cervix.” Calling it such is more accurate, but we just call it the “A‑spot” for short.
It’s also worth noting that the AFE zone has a counterpart on the back wall: the PFE zone, or posterior fornix. Some people with vaginas will find more pleasure in stimulating that area or massaging the cervix proper. Remember: the cervix isn’t merely the end of the vagina. Instead, it’s a tubelike structure that hangs down inside.
Generally, though, toys good for A‑spot stimulation are also good for cervix stimulation. There are exceptions, though. More on that later in this post!
Where it is and how to find it with fingers
The A‑spot is a broad area, and its depth varies from person to person. There is no specific number that applies to everyone. It’s also a little bit trickier because, unlike with the G‑spot, the A‑spot doesn’t have any telltale texturing.
Here’s one place to start looking for your A‑spot:
Find your G‑spot (follow the curve where the pubic bone dips) first, and then go in about two inches deeper on the front wall. The A‑spot is generally somewhere between there and a little under the cervix. Bend your fingers in a “come hither” motion.
Because the technique is similar to G‑spot fingering, it may put your mind at ease use the bathroom and lay out a towel or sex throw before playing. Squirting from A‑spot stimulation isn’t common, but intense front wall stimulation in general can put a lot of pressure on the bladder. It’s good to take away that potential distraction.
If you struggle to find or stimulate your A‑spot with your fingers, that’s okay.
Some have a shallower cervix than others, some have short fingers, others struggle with reach, and so on. And even for one person, the cervix’s height varies depending on their menstrual cycle. It’s higher during ovulation and lower during menstruation.
If your partner’s fingers are longer than yours, they’ll almost surely have an easier time. Directing a penis forward and deep with short thrusts could also work, depending on your anatomy. And of course, toys are optimal tools for exploring!
Toys for A-spot stimulation
The best A‑spot sex toys also have a slight curve and swelling head. We’re trying to go in deep, so something steeply bent and rigid like the njoy Pure Wand isn’t our best bet. And as far as girth goes, a firm and thin-to-moderate width dildo can work well. A squishy toy can too, if there’s adequate girth, curvature, and tapering.
The main things to look for, though, are reach and pressure — as a general rule, you want something with more than 5 inches of insertable length. A firm and bulbous dildo doesn’t need to be as long as a squishy one to apply the same “oomph,” though. And, of course, your mileage may vary, because not everyone’s vaginal canal is the same.
Here are some great toys for A‑spot stimulation, for all experience levels:
NS Novelties Glass G‑Spot Wand
This super affordable glass dildo has a generic name, but don’t let that fool you! It’s a missile for my A‑spot, applying targeted pressure like no other toy on this list.
Read a full NS Novelties Firefly G‑Spot Glow Wand and find out just how fantastic it is.
Uberrime Night King and Vixen Creations VixSkin Johnny
These two toys are very different, but their commonalities include a thick 1.75” girth, pronounced head for front wall pressure, and just the right amount of curve to go in deep. These two dildos are the truth— also amazing against my cervix.

Tantus Tsunami
The bumps and waves on the Tsunami might look wild, but they’re beautifully placed. The curved tip presses against the A‑spot, while the ridges along the shaft press against the G‑spot simultaneously. It’s a symphony for the vaginal walls.

Blush Novelties Avant P1, P2, or D14
These dildos have 5.5” of insertable length, 1.25” of girth, and are on the squishy side. However, their swelling tip makes them great options for someone with a shallow cervix. I prefer to go deeper, but every body's different!

Hi Cy, I'd like to as you, what would you buy in terms of a‑spot and posterior fornix stimulation: uberrime night king or uberrime avenger? How the gland and texture feel different between them?
The Night King has textures all over and the the Avenger is squishier and straight-shafted with isolated, focused crowning under the glans*. They're very different. The main thing is whether you'd prefer something firmer or softer.
Hey, thanks for the all the information. How deep (or what range of depth) is the AFE and PFE? I know it depends on several factors, but what's a rough idea? Thanks
Usually 4–7 inches. YMMV. I know that's a WIDE range lol.
Your posts on deep vaginal stimulation in the afe-area and cervix have been revolutionary for me!!
I used to be able to squirt many years ago but mysteriously forgot how to. Exploring the afe-zone has made me squirt like never before, it’s amazing!! So thank you for talking so much about this, because I feel like we talk a lot more about the clit and g‑spot but not as much about this?
I am very curious if and how you can tell whether a dildo is stimulating the AFE or the cervix? When I masturbate with Vixskin Mustang, I find thrusting it all the way in until I feel resistance and cannot go further quite pleasurable, and I often can come from this while using a clit toy along with the Mustang. But I don't know if the head of the dildo is stimulating my cervix or the AFE.
In short, are you pressing the head up against your front wall, or are you pushing into the structure in the center? It's entirely possible that you're stimulating both zones, though. Enjoy it! 🙂
i love re-reading your articles & learning from them ^^
Hi, I read your article on SheVibe and followed the link to your blog. Just wanted to say thank you for writing this article. You have no idea how weird and alone I felt for finding pleasure in having my cervix (even though I don’t like to think of it much tbh) stimulated.
Almost everyone I’ve talked to prefers vibrators to dildos because they hate having anything close to their cervix. It made me feel like there was something wrong with me even though I’m 30 and know everyone finds pleasure in different things and in different ways but I still felt like I was made wrong.
Anyway, I’m just happy I found you and got educated on this. I swear they should teach this stuff in sex ed. I’m gonna give your toy recommendations a try and hopefully in the future I’ll have an A‑spot orgasm. Love you!!
YES! You're echoing the mental spot I was in when I originally wrote my guide to cervical orgasms: SO TIRED of people dismissing what I know to be true about my pleasure.
Thanks for commenting. I'm happy to hear my work helped you feel less alone.
Thanks so much for this!! I always loved pressure against that area but hadn’t really explored it more until I found your blog. Yay for cervical orgasms.
Still sorta bummed that I haven’t achieved true squirting but trying to focus on the pleasure/positive!
I feel that. Squirting can be a fun experience, but it's definitely not "the ultimate" orgasm for everyone. <3
OH THAT'S THE SPOT THAT MAKES ME CUM VIOLENTLY! Cool to have a name/an idea of where it is to replicate it. Someone fingering me and pressing hard against the a‑spot was the first thing that ever made me squirt.
