Review: 5 Reasons Crave's Duet Vibrator Is Perfect for Me

Review: 5 Reasons Crave's Duet Vibrator Is Perfect for Me

Meet the clitoral vibrator that ruined hundreds of other micro compact massagers for this sex toy reviewer.

Waterproof Crave Duet Classic two prong clitoral vibrator with luxury metal construction

My friend's jaw dropped when I showed him my Crave Duet Classic:

  • The metal heft
  • The powerful punch it packs — one of the best in its size class
  • The direct in-unit USB connection — no charging cord required
  • How many times I have come on it and how well it fits my body

It's perfect for me and so worth the luxury price tag. I've lost count of how many sex toys I've tried, and yet, Crave's Duet Classic rises to the top as possibly my all-time favorite micro compact purse carry vibrator I've ever tried.

If I had to restart my sex toy collection, I'd go straight for the Crave Duet Classic above all other mini-vibes.

And yes, I adore Duet more than the cult fan favorite We-Vibe Tango X. Let's break down how this vibrator compares to others and what I love about it.

How Crave's Duet Classic stands out in the industry

Crave, as a company, boasts elegance, performance, and making history. Duet, their flagship product, was the world wide web's first crowd-funded sex toy, dating back to 2011 — and unlike many of Crave's counterparts, Duet leads with luxury that lives up to the price tag.

Here's how it compares to other external vibrators I've tried. The Crave Duet's Classic's…

  • Prongs are sharper and more pinpoint than the We-Vibe Tango X
  • Build and charging are more easy-breezy and travel-friendly than the Zumio
  • Clitoral surround sound experience is more intense than the Je Joue Amour
  • Vibration quality is rumblier than Blush's Limited Addiction
  • Tips are the right balance of flexible and firm for me, especially compared to countless rabbit-style vibrators I've tried.
  • Shape is more versatile than the Le Wand Chrome Deux — and yes, Le Wand's version is a lesser attempted copy of the Crave Duet.

And also, how often do you see this deep penetration princess this excited about an external vibrator? Exactly.

If I had to restart my sex toy collection, I'd go straight for the Crave Duet Classic above all other mini-vibes.

Here’s why.

The Duet Classic's pointed tips envelop my clit with precision.

These edges are rounded but firm and sharp compared to so many other clitoral vibrators I've tried, focusing vibrations on either side of my clit.

I can hold it in place and let it do its thing. I can twist it around my clit like with a nipple clamp. I can angle Duet to get pressure along the flat sides or concentrate it further with the pointed tips.

Travel-friendly Crave Duet mini vibrator with direct USB port connection

If you masturbate with your fingernails on the outside, you'll probably love Crave's Duet — doubly so if you hug your clit with two fingers.

Triply so if you love grabbing it.

Duet doesn't need a huge motor for maximum resonance when you can squeeze the tips together and get rough.

And if not? Loosen your grip. Turn the speed down. The tips' flexibility and the base's control panel make both easy, for a wide range of sensations.

It's impressively strong for its size — and enough to overwhelm me.

Remember my friend's jaw dropping? Yeah, that was in reaction to the motor and how he did not expect the Crave Duet's vibrations to feel like that, packed into a toy about as thick as a centimeter.

This isn't a matter of one motor at the base vibrating and traveling through the prongs.

There is, in fact, one motor in each prong, allowing for more movement at the tip — and only at the tip. The base is weighted with steel for minimal vibration transfer to the handle.

And the vibes are strong at the highest speed, leaving me overstimulated when I squeeze the tips together. I will absolutely whimper and beg if a partner uses it on me and is being mean with the controls. It is too much for me.

But for solo play? Oh, gosh, the control panel is so lovely.

Crave Duet Classic Specs

  • 4.5” total length
  • 1” wide x 0.5” deep
  • 1.6” long x 0.4” wide prongs
  • Steel base and silicone coat
  • 5 steady speeds and 3 patterns
  • Up to 40 minutes of play time on high

5 buttons and 5 speeds allow for tight control over intensity.

I fucking love a vibrator with a three-button control panel for bringing the speed up and down.

I respect simplicity, but I adore control.

'Cause if I get super sensitive after cumming, I want to be able to turn the speed down to the level I like, and fast.

Crave's Duet Classic has three buttons:

  • Short-press to decrease vibration intensity
  • Short-press to cycle through the rhythms, or long-press to turn on and off
  • Short-press to increase intensity or hold down to go straight to the highest "turbo mode"

The speed settings range from a soft, low, and rumbly 60 Hz to a sharp, biting 180 Hz. There are 4 intensities that layer with 4 functions (steady vibration and 3 patterns), plus one higher "turbo mode" for a total of 17 settings.

The patterns play with movement — quick pulses and alternation back and forth between prongs. I'm not as into the patterns, but they're welcome when I'm overstimulated (which can and does happen when I'm practically clit clamping with the Duet Classic.)

Crave Duet Classic vs. Duet Pro difference

And if you love programming patterns and rhythms, consider the Duet Pro upgrade. With the Pro version, you get to use the direct USB connection to both charge the battery and install settings.

A vibrator that charges via USB‑C is cool. A vibrator that plugs right into the USB port is even cooler.

There's a serial number for logging in — no worries about hackers controlling your vibrator from afar — it's super privacy-conscious, as vibrator pr

And there's a swankier storage pouch with the Duet Pro, I guess.

But real talk: I'm terrible with sex toy storage and charging — which brings me to my next point.

Direct USB connection lets you charge without a cord.

There is no cord with the Crave Duet — you just pull the top from the base and connect the latter into a USB port. That's it. No worries if you keep it together with the charging cord. No worries if you can't find a cord that matches your device.

A vibrator that charges via USB‑C is cool. A vibrator that plugs right into the USB port is even cooler.

And Ti Chang, designer of Duet, has a patent on the way it charges. So even though other vibrators with direct in-unit USB charging exist, they're really not supposed to be using the same technology. And they don't measure up to the Crave Duet anyway.

You just have to move on, Ti said, more excited about making new products.

But in case you're curious:

  • The Unihorn bullet is cheap, cute, and fine for what it is. It lacks the power and pinpoint focus of the Crave Duet.
  • LELO's Mia 3 is a bit better, but again, still too diffuse for me to give a damn.
  • Le Wand's Chrome Deux superficially adopted a two-pronged design but also lacked the Duet's beveled points.

Do you see a pattern here? You can try to copy the charging mechanism and elegant vibes, but ultimately, if you're not starting your design from a consumer experience perspective, you're missing the point.

Figuratively and literally.

The small, independent maker gives a damn about the consumer experience.

Ti Chang was the change she wanted to see in the adult novelty industry — a designer who:

  • Turned toys into a regal ritual of respect, like the process of putting on jewelry and feeling the hefty metal warming up against your skin
  • Was inspired by how many women masturbate with two fingers, like a “hug” surrounding the clitoris
  • Was sensitive to sex toy users’ embarrassment and shame, and designed a discreet way around that. When the shower is the only “me” time someone gets, a vibrator that's powerful, waterproof, quiet, and compact is a big fucking deal

Maybe now, in the mid-2020s, it's easy to take for granted that:

  • Female masturbation isn't as taboo as it used to be
  • Sex toys designed by women for women to buy make more sense than sex toys designed by men for other men to buy for their wives
  • Reviewers can help you filter out the noise
  • Elegance is now easier to come by in the industry because of designers like Ti

…but it wasn't always that way. And Crave continues to stand out as a sumptuous slow fashion favorite — contrasting with this era's AI slop sea, drop-ship saturation, and whiplash from fast-turning consumptioncore.

Ti just wants to make pleasure products that practically speak for themselves the moment someone picks one up:

  • The “oh, wow" at the metal and mass distribution (packing a punch without sending sensation to your hand)
  • My friend's eyes widening when the motor kicked in
  • Instant recognition: “Yes, this is for me" for anyone who has masturbated with two fingertips or a fingernail

Her design choices show that she gets it as both the user and the designer.

Who is Crave's Duet Classic for and not for?

While Crave isn't for everyone, their Duet Classic is perfection for pinpoint princesses like me.

If you masturbate with your fingernails on the outside, you'll probably love Crave's Duet — doubly so if you hug your clit with two fingers

I'm exactly the Crave Duet's target audience:

  • I love pinpoint stimulation with the prongs and sharp edges — and appreciate abundant vibration strength, but don't have a clit of steel
  • I crave a vibrator with buttons to turn the speed up and down
  • I'm awful at keeping track of my charging cords (unflattering but true!)
  • I enjoy bringing toys with me in my purse for date night
    • Bonus: my partner loved grinding with the Duet Classic between us
  • I'm willing to spend more money and treat myself to quality

Duet was a gift from Crave, but I have bought their products — specifically Vesper — before for personal use and for comparison other vibrator necklaces.

I love how Duet envelops my clit and digs in to clinch as much or as lightly as I want it to.

Who wouldn't like the Crave Duet Classic?

I get that not everyone is into Crave's compact luxe, though, such as:

  • Those who crave broad stimulation or are irritated by sharp sensations (get a wand instead, or at least something more rounded like the Hot Octopuss Pulse Queen)
  • Those who absolutely need a low-pitch rumble to get off
  • Someone who needs ample battery life — the Crave Duet Classic runs for up to 40 minutes on the highest speed, which doesn't bother me, but might not be enough for others
  • Someone with grip issues or big fingers — the buttons are tiny and can be hard to press for some users.
  • Someone wanting cute and cuddly on a budget. Crave's Duet Classic is compact but luxe and bold.

While it isn't the ultimate crowd-wower, it's arguably the best in its size class. Those who get it, get it. It's the opposite of trendy: a flagship classic I keep coming back to.

  1. Fascinating! I think I was turned on to the Volta from your blog ages ago — it’s now consistently my favourite. How does this compare?
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Duet is not AS sharp or powerful as Volta but it's way firmer and easier to squeeze the tips together. As far as how much I enjoy it, I personally prefer this one.
