November 2018 faves: sex toys, personal updates, and what’s coming up
I had a revelation when looking at my affiliate dashboards this month: for the first time, I’ve made enough money in a month from my blog alone to cover a future month’s worth of rent, utilities, and food.
That’s the dream: I might be able to make sex blogging into my JOB job?!?! And if I keep growing it, I could travel and live abroad while continuing my writing. All while leaving my modeling day job and doing much less work at keeping my body image issues at bay.
And it’s only been a year since I revived my blog and moved to a self-hosted site— thus starting my commitment to take it seriously. After a year of not posting, I carefully studied Epiphora and JoEllen Notte’s Business of Sex blogging course.1 I asked myself, “What was I doing in previous years that didn’t work? What would it take to make this a sustainable business?”
Changes since November 2017
For one, I forged relationships with Peepshow Toys and Spectrum Boutique. Beginning in March 2018, I reviewed products for them— and in July, I started working with SheVibe. My blog couldn’t have made it this far without support from them, my other affiliates, and you, my readers. Thank you!
My hard work has been paying off, both literally and figuratively. Being able to pay my bills with a very niche blog is an accomplishment, period.
And on top of that, it’s gained much recognition as of late, like being featured on an episode of Chris Guillebeau’s podcast, Side Hustle School. I am honored to be part of it. And I love reading his work because it’s like talking to a wisened-up, 42-year-old version of myself.
Super Smash Cache is also #26 on Molly’s Daily Kiss’s/Chaturbate’s Top 100 Sex Blogs of 2018 list, Kinkly’s Top 100, and #10 on Kinkly’s top LGBTQ blogs list. Thank you to those who put together these lists. And thank you to everyone who has supported, nominated, and voted for me!
And now, on to my favorite toys of the month!
1 LELO Mona 2
Spectrum Boutique was kind enough to offer me a LELO Mona 2 for review. And if you’re an up and coming sex blogger, you don’t turn down a Mona 2. Its cultish status in the sex bloggersphere is almost par with the njoy Pure Wand. Though its rumble could be better for the price, I’m all for the stiff and angled shaft, the pointy tip, and the comprehensive control panel.
And it’s jarring to think that the same company that made the Mona 2, a reliable and elegant classic, also recently hyped up an unsafe condom and hired a convicted abuser of women as their spokesperson. They could have done so much better, but they don’t give a shit. Yes, I’m exposing LELO’s shittiness in my review. Don’t @ me.
If you want a Mona 2 (and I wouldn’t blame you one bit), at least buy it from the kind and inclusive folx at Spectrum Boutique so that your investment balances out.
2 BMS Factory Pillow Talk Sassy
I reviewed this fantastic G-spot vibe a long-ass time ago, but I need to remind y’all of the Pillow Talk Sassy‘s greatness. I almost turned it down because of how generic it looked. But when I gave it a chance, it blew me away with its rumble and price tag.
And after trying the LELO Mona 2, I’m officially okay with saying that the BMS Factory Pillow Talk Sassy isn’t only the best G-spot vibrator for the price— it’s one of the best G-spot vibrators you could buy, period. (Though its rumble can’t beat the original BMS Factory Swan Wand.) What’s the downside? The Sassy’s one-button control is limited, and the neck is flexible. It’s decidedly not a luxury product, but for $48.60 (use code SUPERSMASHCACHE at Peepshow Toys), you get richer quality vibrations than the LELO Mona 2. For $125 less.
I’m shook. There have been plenty of times I grabbed the Mona 2 for a masturbation session but was impatient and unsatisfied until I used the Sassy instead. Their power levels at the highest speed are comparable, but the Sassy has a bigger range of motion and lower pitch. That translates to a very happy clitoris.
3 Vixen Creations Randy
I’ve been craving big dildos more often, and I can’t overstate how much I love the Vixen Creations Randy. My review of it infamously compares the dildo to a soda can… and my screaming while using it to a woman in labor. It’s rocked my world and makes a fabulous pairing with the LELO Mona 2. Sometimes, simple is good.
Coming up on my blog
Blog Revival Reverie giveaway
The end of November is such a monumental time for my blog, so what better way to celebrate than with a big giveaway?! This December, I’ll be teaming up with Peepshow Toys, Blush Novelties, Uberrime Dildos, and Vixen Creations to give away ELEVEN prizes!
But I’ll run this giveaway a little differently from my past Summer Wet Dream Giveaway. Because so much of my blog focuses on deep penetration, I decided to include more dildos. There will be 8 dildos (including 4 by Uberrime and a Midnight Pearl VixSkin Johnny), 2 vibrators (thank you, Peepshow Toys!), and one butt plug.
I haven’t started putting together the giveaway widget or assembling the descriptions, but be on the lookout for the official announcement soon!
A sparkly tentacle dildo review
It’s hard for a sex toy to bring something exceptionally unique to my vast collection, but Marco has done it again with the Uberrime Xenuphora. Spoiler: this dil feels as good as it looks.
Plus, I think it’s charming that there are fantasy dildos that aren’t excessively huge. The Uberrime Xenuphora tentacle dildo features 5.5″ of insertable length and about 1.4″ diameter. That’s pretty average when compared to human penises.
Other little things
At my request, my boyfriend now puts on nerdy Clark Kent glasses just for sex.
Light but thuddy impact on the back of my inner thighs.
Massaging the legs of my internal clitoris via pressure on my outer labia (my external clitoral glans is often too sensitive to friction).
Playing NSFW party games with co-workers.
Sharing my boyfriend’s birthday cake, liquor, chocolate, and going out for sushi and seafood.
Writing a sponsored post about discreet toys just in time for readers visiting family the holidays.
